Mattithyahu (Matthew) 6:9-13
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father who established yeshu`ah(salvation) in the heavens, Exalted is your name.
10 Your Kingdom come. Your will be done in earth, as in the heavens.
11 Give us this day our daily את eth-bread(substance).
12 And forgive us our transgressions, as we forgive those who transgress against us.
13 And lead us not into the evil inclination(temptation), but deliver us from the outer darkness(spiritual threats or challenges): For yours is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amein.
This prayer begins with reverence, inviting us to align with the Creator’s purpose and to seek a life that reflects divine will. Each phrase offers a powerful step into a deeper spiritual understanding.
“Our Father who established yeshu`ah (salvation) in the heavens, Exalted is your name”.
By calling upon the Creator who established salvation, we acknowledge His sacred and exalted nature, setting a tone of respect and faith.
“Your Kingdom come. Your will be done in earth, as in the heavens”.
This line encourages us to invite the Creator’s influence into our lives, asking for His will to shape both our individual paths and the world.
“Give us this day our daily את eth-bread(substance)”
A reminder of our dependence on divine provision for life’s needs, both physical and spiritual, symbolized here as daily bread.
“And forgive us our transgressions, as we forgive those who transgress against us”.
This phrase highlights the importance of forgiveness, recognizing that our own need for mercy should inspire compassion toward others.
“And lead us not into the evil inclination (temptation), but deliver us from the outer darkness (spiritual threats or challenges)”.
A request for strength to resist harmful paths and to be shielded from forces that could lead us astray.
“For yours is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amein.”.
The closing line affirms trust in the Creator’s eternal sovereignty, power, and presence, giving us assurance in His divine guidance.
This opening prayer not only teaches reverence, humility, and reliance on the Creator but also sets a framework for connecting with higher wisdom. It serves as a perfect foundation for the spiritual journey laid out in this book.
